Switching to Maestro with Worldpay
Posted in eCommerce by Dr Christian Bridge-Harrington
Over the past couple of years, MasterCard has been replacing the Switch brand with their global debit brand, Maestro. You may have seen various television commercials, and noticed that most retail outlets have already changed their advertising and branding.
From the 20th June, Worldpay, for whom we are an Accredited Storebuilder, will require the removal of Switch logos from webpages, and their replacement with the Maestro logo. This should be a straight-forward process and if you currently use a Worldpay provided script this should be seemless.
In addition to the logo, MasterCard require that your payment provider supports cardholder authentication through MasterCard SecureCode (also known as 3D Secure). Currently this is optional for MasterCard credit cards, however from 30th June this will be a mandatory requirement for Maestro cards used online. Currently this is due for implementation by Worldpay in the 3rd quarter of 2007, and as most payment providers do not yet support it, there is no requirement yet to use it.
For more details about MasterCard SecureCode see the following link. Maestro logos can be downloaded from the MasterCard Brand Centre.
