Linking to Anchor Points in Contribute
Posted in Adobe Contribute by Adam Lofting
If you have a particularly long web page, it is sometimes nice to be able to link to content further down the page so that your visitor does not have to scroll a long way and try to find the content themselves. When the visitor clicks on a link, the page simply jumps to the relevant point on the current page.
Basic Overview of the Concept
- Identify the point you wish to “jump” to
- Mark this point with an Anchor Tag
- Create a new link
- Point the link to this Anchor Tag
How to mark a point on a page with an Anchor Tag
Select a point in the page to "jump" to

Choose "Insert" and then "Section Anchor" from the menu at the top
Give the Anchor Point a unique name. This can be anything you like so long as there are no spaces.
The page Anchor Points can now be identified by a flag on the page and you can double click this flag to check the name of an Anchor point, or to edit the Anchor Point.
How to link to an Anchor Point on a page
Select the text or image that you would like to make into a link.

Choose "Link" and then "Browse to Webpage..."
If you need to, press the advanced button so that you can see the 3 input boxes circled in the image below
Press the browse button and then navigate to the current page on the website. This is the page that you have just addded the Anchor Point to.
This will fill the boxes circled in the image below
You can then select your Anchor Point from the "Section Achor" drop-down menu at the bottom of the page.

Press OK and you are done!
Finally
- press the publish button and you are finished.
