First open Contribute, navigate to the page you wish to edit and click on the "Edit Page" button.
You now have two options:
1. You can create a text link
2. You can create an image link
Option 1: If you are creating a text link
Highlight the text you wish to make into the link.

Option 1: If you are creating an image link
Select the image you wish to make the link.

Now that you have highlighted your text, or selected your image the rest of the process is the same for either option 1 or 2.
Once you have completed option 1 or 2, you have three choices:
A. Linking to a web page
B. Linking to an email address
C. Linking to a file such as a PDF
Option A: Linking to a web page
Choose "Link" > "Browse to Web Page"

Enter the URL you wish to link too (See A in picture below)
Test the URL by pressing the browse button (See B in picture below)
If you need the link to open into a new browser window, the press the advanced button (See C in picture below)
And then choose the target frame (See D in picture below)

Then simply press OK.
Option B: Linking to an email address
Choose "Link" > "E-mail Address"

Enter the email address you wish to link to.

Option C: Linking to a file such as a PDF
Choose "Link" > "Files on My Computer"

Press browse, and then find the file on your computer that you wish to put on your website.
If you would like this link to open in a new window, then used the "advanced" button and the "Target frame" drop down menu as illustrated below.

When you press OK you will see the following message:

Briefly, this means that when you publish the web page you are editing, a copy of the file you have linked to will be placed on the website. This copy (that is now on your website) will not be updated if you amend the file on your own computer.
Finally
- press the publish button and you are finished.
